Tesla provides update on FSD approval in Ireland as fleet hits 15,000 vehicles

Tesla has provided an update on its efforts to bring Full Self-Driving (FSD) to Ireland, confirming that the country remains part of its European expansion plans.

The update comes as Tesla celebrates delivering its 15,000th vehicle in Ireland, nearly a decade after officially entering the market in late 2016.

Speaking to the Irish Examiner, Tesla highlighted the progress being made across Europe, while confirming that Irish customers are still waiting for their turn.

“Ireland is anticipating the arrival of this transformative technology on Irish roads in due course,” the company said.

The statement follows confirmation earlier this year in May that Tesla was working with Ireland’s Department of Transport and the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) to secure regulatory approval for FSD (Supervised).

At the time, Irish officials acknowledged that discussions were underway but could not provide a timeline for approval.

Tesla’s latest comments suggest Ireland remains on the company’s roadmap, although there is still no indication of when the software might become available.

European FSD Rollout Continues

While Ireland waits, Tesla’s European rollout is moving ahead in other parts of the region. Most recently, Czechia became the seventh European country to approve FSD earlier this week, joining the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Belgium, and Slovenia.

The Netherlands was the first to approve the software in April, establishing a regulatory pathway that other European countries have since used to accelerate their own approvals.

The next major milestone is expected on October 6, when EU regulators are scheduled to vote on wider recognition of the Dutch approval.
