A new FAA temporary flight restriction (TFR) has been issued for space over SpaceX’s McGregor, Texas test facility. The restriction is now in place ahead of Tesla’s upcoming Roadster event near Waco.
The restriction, identified as FAA NOTAM FDC 6/3825, became active on September 18 and remains in place until October 2 at 1200 UTC. It covers a 1.5 nautical mile radius around the Waco VORTAC area, extending from the surface up to 10,000 feet above ground level.
The FAA listed the reason for the restriction as hazards under 14 CFR 91.137(a)(3), which temporarily limits aircraft operations in the affected area.
The NOTAM states, “No pilots may operate an aircraft in the areas covered by this NOTAM.” The listed contact for the restriction is the Fort Worth Air Route Traffic Control Center.
The restricted area is positioned over SpaceX’s Rocket Development and Test Facility near West US Highway 84 and FM 2671 in McGregor, where the company tests rocket engines and other hardware.

The timing makes it likely the restriction is linked to Tesla’s planned October 1 Roadster event, which has been teased with the phrase “Go for launch.”
Tesla has previously shared details about the next-generation Roadster, including plans for a SpaceX-inspired thruster package that the company says will improve performance. The vehicle has faced multiple delays, with Tesla continuing development after earlier launch timelines shifted.
