Tesla’s V4 Supercharger technology is now easier for U.S. federal agencies to purchase and install after EV infrastructure company Verdek added the charging solution to its General Services Administration (GSA) contract.
The arrangement gives eligible federal customers access to Tesla’s charging hardware through an existing government procurement framework, potentially reducing the time it takes to deploy charging infrastructure from months to just weeks.
Verdek says rather than navigating lengthy competitive bidding processes, qualifying agencies can work through them, although Tesla will continue to review and approve customers for participation in its Supercharger program.
The move is aimed at government fleets that are steadily increasing their use of electric vehicles (EVs), including military and defence organizations operating across the country.
“Reliable charging infrastructure is essential to a successful electrification of the US federal fleets,” said Guy Mannino, CEO of Verdek. “Federal agencies, including the Department of Defence, US Army, US Air Force, and US Navy, operate EVs across bases, training facilities, logistics corridors, and mission-critical locations throughout the country. They need charging infrastructure that is scalable, dependable, and supported by a broad national network.”
Federal customers will also gain access to Tesla’s broader Supercharger ecosystem, which now includes more than 80,000 charging stalls worldwide.
