According to scientists, the Porsche Taycan is the most innovative car in the world

The Center of Automotive Management (CAM), an independent scientific institute at the University of Applied Sciences in Germany, has found the Porsche Taycan to be the most important innovation driver in the global automotive market.

Among the 27 innovations in the Taycan that lead to the conclusion of the scientists include its “its 800-volt architecture, two-speed transmission on the rear axle, high recuperative power of up to 265 kW and best cd value in the segment (from 0.22).

The award is a fantastic confirmation of the innovative strength of our company and the pioneering spirit that can be found at Porsche,” said Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, Oliver Blume. “Technical innovations such as our 800-volt architecture, recognized here by the award, permit short charging times. The two-speed transmission on the rear axle guarantees a unique driving experience. Both order book and customer feedback are very positive.

CAM has been analyzing the innovations of automakers from around the world since 2005. For the current edition of the award, approximately 250 vehicles were analyzed by the team.

Porsche recently announced a new, cheaper rear-wheel drive (RWD) version of the Taycan, exclusive to the Chinese market.

The price for the RWD Taycan will begin at ¥888,000 ($170,600 CAD). That compares to the Taycan 4S which has a starting price in Canada of $119,400 CAD.

Porsche has so far not revealed any plans to bring the RWD Taycan to Canada or the US.
