The group behind the 2022 Formula-E race that was due to take place on the Canada Day long weekend announced the race and corresponding events are cancelled for 2022.
One Stop Strategy (OSS) Group confirmed the reports late yesterday, as did the City of Vancouver.
The Formula-E race was to take place around False Creek on a street circuit that was similar to the former Indy Vancouver track.
The issues that led to the postponement look to be permit related.
The City of Vancouver required OSS Group to provide proof of insurance, a safety plan, outdoor concert licencing and confirmation of private property agreements by April 21 at 11:59.
It is unclear if any documents made it to the city by the deadline.
However, the event is not fully cancelled but merely postponed to 2023.
OSS Group will reach out to the almost 30,000 fans who already paid for tickets with options moving forward.
The group had a fun weekend of activities and racing planned for Vancouver. Friday evening had a Canadian E-Fest with a headline concert by Nickelback.
In addition, there was also E-Volve, a two-day sustainability conference. The planned conference featured Felipe Calderon, former Mexican president, as a keynote speaker.
OSS nor the City of Vancouver confirmed what the new date for the Formula-E race would be in 2023.
