Tesla’s Enhanced Autopilot returns as an optional upgrade [Update]

Tesla’s Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) suite of features closely resembles the Full Self-Driving (FSD) package, with the one exception being Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control (TLSSC).

EAP used to be an option to purchase before the arrival of FSD and when basic Autopilot became standard on all Tesla vehicles in early 2019.

In an completely unexpected turn, Tesla has brought EAP back as an optional upgrade in the Tesla mobile app.

Priced at $4,000 USD (we have yet to receive confirmation on the Canadian price), EAP will definitely be an attractive option to Tesla owners who weren’t quite prepared to pay the much higher price for FSD, while still getting 99% of the features.

UPDATE #1: Thanks to a Drive Tesla reader, we now know the price for the upgrade to EAP in Canada is $5,300.

UPDATE #3: According to an email sent by Tesla, the offer is only around until September 30.

EAP offer

It should be noted that EAP is not likely to receive all of the future updates that will come to the FSD package. As an example, the list of features clearly states “Autosteer on city streets” is coming soon for FSD, but not EAP.

Another important consideration is EAP owners are not eligible for the free upgrade to the HW3.0 computer that is given to buyers of FSD.

Tesla earlier this year provided a discount on the upgrade price to FSD to those owners with EAP.

UPDATE #2: It appears as though Tesla has not offered that discount this time around as the upgrade from EAP to FSD is still showing the full price.

Let us know in the comments below if you are seeing Enhanced Autopilot in your account in Canada, and if you’re considering buying it.

This is a developing story, stay tuned for updates…
