Tesla publishes first job postings for Humanoid Robot project (Tesla Bot)

Less than a week after the Tesla Bot was first announced by Elon Musk, the company has published its first job postings related to the upcoming humanoid robot.

According to the Careers section of Tesla’s website, up to four positions are currently available for mechanical engineers and robotics architects that will be based at Tesla’s headquarters in Palo Alto, California (h/t: @tesla_adri).

In the job postings Tesla explains the positions have the goal to “build a humanoid robot that can support manufacturing operators in tedious and exhaustive tasks.”

“This position is critical to the development of the high-performance electromechanical rotary and linear actuator systems for humanoid bi-pedal robots (Tesla Bot). Tesla actuators need to deliver high performance, efficiency, and torque (force) density. You will join the team of electromagnetic motor design engineers to develop the most torque and force dense rotary and linear actuator systems in the world,” reads the Actuator Gear Design job description.

The Tesla Bot was Elon Musk’s “one more thing” at the company’s AI Day event last week. Initial specifications released during the presentation reveal the Tesla Bot will stand at 5’8″ tall and weigh in at 125lbs.

Musk joked that the robot will be something you can easily run away from and also easily overpower.

A working prototype is planned to be showcased some time in 2022.
