Tesla officially launching in Thailand in December

After nearly a year of preparation Tesla will officially be launching in Thailand next month. The official launch date was announced on the Tesla’s LinkedIn page, with the post only being visible to Thai users.

One Tesla enthusiast and investor Daren Yoong shared the post on Twitter, which included an image of a Model 3 headlight with the caption “Hello Thailand,” and the date ‘December 2022.’ (via Tesmanian)

The first signs that Tesla was preparing to launch in Thailand came back in March when the company was officially registered with the Kingdom’s Ministry of Commerce.

Over the following months Tesla added its official app to the Apple App Store in Thailand, and also started a hiring spree with a series of job postings for multiple positions based in the capital city of Bangkok.

There is still no Thailand country page available on Tesla’s website, so we don’t know what models will be offered for sale. We expect both the Model 3 and Model Y to be available at launch, which will likely be shipped into the country from Giga Shanghai.

Even though Tesla’s aren’t officially available in Thailand, it is still popular among EV enthusiasts who have imported them into the country. The Model 3 was the second best-selling electric vehicle (EV) in Thailand last year, and based on recent estimates there are already nearly 800 of them in Thailand.
