Tesla Giga Berlin Train to Offer Service Directly from Berlin

Tesla continues to have a positive impact on the area around Giga Berlin by creating better conditions for its employees and residents in the region. The company wants to create a direct train connection with Berlin, opening up new opportunities.

Tesla will launch its rail connection from Berlin-Lichtenberg to the Grünheide factory from April 1, according to a company statement to an RBB request. It will be opened in addition to the train connection launched in September, which connects Giga Berlin with Erkner. In addition to connections to Berlin-Lichtenberg, further expansion of local transport connections to the factory is planned. Tesla is currently in talks with Deutsche Bahn’s network division, which is responsible for route availability. The gradual expansion of rail services is hugely positive news for the entire region.

According to the company, Giga Berlin employs about 11,500 people. Most of them come from Berlin. This is why expanding the connection with Berlin will play an important role in decongesting roads in the area of the factory and reducing cars’ harmful impact on the environment.

“Direct communication with Berlin has the greatest positive effect on the development of public transport and reducing traffic congestion around the factory,” said Tesla.

Today, Giga Berlin is the only electric vehicle factory in Europe that is connected to the state railway network with its shuttle train. The train runs between Erkner train station and Tesla’s factory premises in Grünheide. According to the company, up to 3,000 people use free transportation on the presented route every day.

The new Berlin-Lichtenberg connection was ordered and financed by Tesla. The company explained that the additional offer should also be available for free use to all other travelers. This greatly improves convenience for local residents by allowing them to move around the area free of charge.
