Tesla achieves perfect rating as most LGBTQ+ friendly workplace for the 7th year in a row

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has released their 2022 Corporate Equality Index, and Tesla sits atop the rankings with a perfect 100/100 score for the 7th year in a row.

The index rated 1,271 corporations across the United States and around the world on how they are adopting equitable workplace policies, practices and benefits for LGBTQ+ employees.

Tesla announced the achievement on their Instagram account earlier today, which earns them the designation as one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality.”

The HRC considers many factors when developing their ratings. These include Workplace Protections, Inclusive Benefits, Supporting an Inclusive Culture & Corporate Social Responsibility, and Response Citizenship.

Points are either awarded or taken away depending on how a company performs in each category.

In the 2022 ratings, Tesla’s perfect score ranked them higher than other automakers like Ford (90), Nissan (90), and General Motors (90).

Whether Tesla will be able to hold on to the perfect rating next year remains to be seen. HRC says that there will be a number of new criteria considered for the 2023 index that will “raise the bar” for companies to included.
