SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lights up Pacific Northwest sky

SpaceX burn

If you live in the Pacific Northwest and happened to be outside at around 9:00pm local time last night, you were treated to a spectacular light show courtesy of SpaceX.

Earlier this month on March 4 SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket into orbit to deliver another load of 60 Starlink satellites. While the mission was a success, the second stage of the rocket failed to complete its deorbit burn.

As a result it circled the earth for 22 days before its spectacular re-entry last night visible from British Columbia to Oregon.

Videos of the light show flooded social media with worried onlookers wondering if they were witnessing a plane crash, meteor shower, or something extra-terrestrial.

Here are some of the videos shared online last night.
