Not wanting to be left behind in the shift to electrification, Shell is converting gas stations in the United Kingdom into electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
The change was spotted by Twitter user Sam, who came across an old gas station that had been demolished. Signage at the site says it will become a Shell Recharge site exclusively for EVs, and is planned to open this year.
Used to be a Petrol station, now turning into an EV only charging station with Costa coffee and Waitrose. EVs are not only killing ICE, but also ICE hangouts. pic.twitter.com/kQQyF9yCmd

Shell already has over 100 Recharge EV charging points in the UK, adding them to their existing gas stations across the region. This appears to be one of the first, if not the first examples of where an entire Shell gas station is being converted to a Shell Recharge station.
The multinational oil and gas company plans to have 200 charging points open by the end of 2021, with an eventual goal to have over 5,000 locations by 2025.
According to Shell’s website, Shell Recharge locations are supplied by 100% certified renewable energy sources, that have been generated using wind, solar and biomass.
