Rivian will use their electric vans built for Amazon as service vehicles

After a bit of a slow start, Rivian has been able to ramp production and as of the end of October deliver 156 R1T electric pickup trucks, mostly to employees.

With the number of customers deliveries expected to increase soon, the company will also need to build out its fleet of service vehicles.

In a presentation intended for potential investors ahead of their initial public offering (IPO), the company has revealed they will be using the electric vans they build for Amazon as their service vehicles.

The presentation included three images of the ‘Rivian Service Vehicle’. Unlike the Amazon colour pallete which includes blue and grey, Rivian went with an all-white look for their service vans.

Revealed earlier this year, their service model is very similar to Tesla’s in that it is primarily mobile-based.

To support the mobile service framework, which they call ‘Rivian Remote Care’, technicians will be able to remotely diagnose issues through their connected vehicle platform.

In the presentation, Rivian reiterated they plan to begin deliveries of the R1S electric SUV before the end of the year.
