Rivian expands its service fleet to now include over 200 vans and 100 R1Ts

Rivian has expanded its mobile service fleet to include more than 200 Rivian Service Vans and 100 R1Ts. The vans, which are also being provided to Amazon, provide a larger platform to complete work and will add 500 cubic feet of cargo capacity to bring equipment.

The service vans are built on Rivian’s commercial vehicle platform and are uplifted with equipment that Rivian service technicians need to perform repairs. Each van includes the following equipment:

  • Wheel Balancer
  • Automated Tire Changer
  • Air Compressor
  • Hydraulic Jack and Stands
  • Modular shelving
  • Parts and Tools to complete 80 per cent of fixes
  • 240 Volt Outlet to provide vehicle-to-vehicle charging

Rivian Senior Program Manager Grady Robbins had this to say about the service vans, which were added to the fleet last month:

Introducing RSV to the mobile service fleet allows us to continue to lead with a mobile-first strategy, delivering high-quality and convenient service to our customers in a sustainable way.

The goal for the company is to provide a genuinely mobile service that can get to customers where they need assistance. For instance, the vans will mainly be used on public roads where heavier equipment is necessary, or the repair is a little more complex. While the fleet of R1T’s will continue to be used off-road and where service calls do not require the bigger tools.
