Anyone can now pre-order SpaceX Starlink satellite internet service

If you’re still waiting for an invitation to join the SpaceX Starlink beta testing program, you can now place a pre-order to secure your spot in line.

In an update to the Starlink website today, customers can enter their email address and service address and be taken immediately to the order page. Previously this would put you on a waiting list to be notified when the satellite internet service became available in your area.

Once your information has been entered, you are prompted to pay the equivalent of one month’s service fee, which in Canada is $129 ($99 USD).

According the information on the page, this is only for a pre-order and “Your deposit payment (“Deposit Payment”) grants you priority within your region for securing Starlink Services when available.” Orders will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Although no specific dates are provided, Starlink does say to expect coverage in our area in mid to late 2021. At that time you will be required to pay $649 (plus taxes and shipping and handling) to receive the necessary hardware.

In a regulatory filing last week, SpaceX said it already has over 10,000 beta testers around the world. The company also said its internet speeds have already achieved speeds above the Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) standards.

Let us know in the comments below if you were also able to place a pre-order for SpaceX Starlink satellite internet service, and where you’re located.
