Polestar has announced the release of the P2.9 over-the-air (OTA) software update for all existing Polestar 2 vehicles. This latest update is the fifteenth remote software upgrade for the Polestar 2 and includes the integration of the YouTube app.
In addition to the YouTube integration, which will also come standard in all new Polestar 2 deliveries, the P2.9 update also includes significant improvements to the Range Assistant app. Drivers can now monitor their energy consumption over specific distances, such as the previous 20, 40, or 100 kilometers.
The app provides real-time information on energy usage, enabling drivers to adjust their driving style and improve efficiency. The updated algorithm also factors in environmental and other variables that impact energy efficiency, resulting in more accurate range predictions.
Polestar has also enhanced the functionality of Apple CarPlay, which was added in a previous software update in 2022, giving drivers additional phone and media information on the home screen tile, the ability to handle calls using steering wheel buttons, and the projection of calls and Apple Maps onto the car’s driver display.
“We know how much our customers look forward to over-the-air upgrades and I am convinced this one will be well received, with notable new features and enhancements. YouTube is great for entertainment while charging, and our updated Range Assistant app delivers more accurate predictions and supports an improved driving style. Bringing Apple Maps to the driver display is one of many important updates to Apple CarPlay in Polestar 2,” said Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.
