Tesla confirms today that it will bring new and affordable electric models to the market in 2025 after predicting a slowed growth rate for this year.
Tesla may shake up the market early next year by introducing new and affordable electric vehicles after admitting that a new car might be needed to stimulate growth.
The company had warned that the growth rate for 2024 might be slower because it is concentrating on its next-generation electric platform, which will also power the Robotaxi, whose debut was eventually delayed. However, it stated in its Q2 Shareholder Deck that plans for new and affordable cars are on track for an H1 2025 production.
CEO Elon Musk has long talked about a cheaper EV, unofficially dubbed Model 2. Many have speculated that it will be priced at $25,000 and compete with the Chevrolet Bolt EV and EUV.
While the media might focus on the elusive ‘Model 2’, the new EV platform might also support an electric van, which CEO Elon Musk has previously discussed. On a Joe Rogan podcast, he commented that a van with a large flat roof could be a good candidate for integrated solar panels.
Tesla has been due for a new model, with the Model S and Model X moving little inventory compared to the Model Y and Model 3. The American company has refreshed the latter and has been spotted testing an updated version of the former.
