Lucid set to begin customer deliveries of Gravity SUV in April

Lucid is gearing up to begin customer deliveries of its Gravity electric SUV by the end of April. After initially limiting deliveries to employees, friends, and family, Lucid is now ready to put its second model into the hands of the general public.

Lucid first opened up orders for the Gravity in November 2024, with the first units rolling off the production line at Lucid’s manufacturing facility, AMP-1, in Casa Grande, Arizona in December. However, these first units were delivered to employees and friends and family.

Now, with production ramping up in the months since then, the broader customer base who reserved Lucid’s electric SUV will soon begin receiving their vehicles.

“We have nearly completed building vehicles for studios and test drives and expect them to begin arriving at our locations across the U.S. beginning in April. For early customers eagerly awaiting their Lucid Gravity delivery, we plan to begin delivering additional vehicles at the end of April,” said Lucid’s interim CEO Marc Winterhoff in a post on LinkedIn.

The Gravity marks a crucial milestone for Lucid, which is still attempting to establish itself as a serious contender in the highly competitive electric vehicle (EV) space. While the Lucid Air sedan impressed with industry-leading range and luxury, its high price and the market’s preference for SUVs made it difficult to capture mainstream attention. While the Gravity is still high-priced, C$134,500 for the Grand Touring Trim, Lucid is hoping its SUV form factor will help it gain more traction in the EV marketplace.

Lucid also gave the Gravity a key advantage by adopting the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, allowing customers to tap into Tesla’s expansive Supercharger network. Since January Gravity owners have been able to plug in to over 20,000 Superchargers in Canada and the United States, while Air owners continue to wait for their opportunity.
