Kia partners with Electrify America to provide owners with ‘Kia Select’ program

It’s not a Tesla Supercharger network, but for Kia Niro EV drivers and buyers in the US, they now have the option of the ‘Kia Select’ program which gives them preferred charging rates at Electrify America sites.

The plan, which is available to 2019 and 2020 Kia Niro EV drivers in the US, requires no subscription fee and drivers will also not be charged any session fees. In addition, they will also be charged a preferred rate of $0.35 per minute for the entire duration of their charge.

Upon announcing the plan, Kia said it will offer it until the end of 2020, at which point it will examine the success of the program to see if it will continue.

Electrify America is in the process of building a network of high-speed EV chargers across the US. According to its website, it currently has 418 stations with 1,429 CCS DC fast charger connections.

Electrify Canada offers a similar deal for VW e-Golf drivers and Porsche Taycan drivers in Canada, where they each get 2 years or 3 years of free charging respectively.

They are also building out their charging network in Canada, recently partnering with Canadian Tire to install chargers at select stores across the country.
