Hyundai has announced its upcoming Ioniq 6 First Edition version sold out in Europe in less than 24 hours.
Excited buyers snapped up all the 2,500 units of Hyundai’s new EV. Germany sold out all its 1,000 units allocation; the same was true in the UK, Norway, France, and the Netherlands. The Ioniq 6 started at £54,995 in the UK and €66,400 in Germany.
Deliveries will start between March and April next year. However, dealerships will begin offering the car at a point for those unable to secure a spot.
The Ioniq 6 First Edition is equipped with a 77.4 kWh battery. It promises up to 323 miles of driving range using the WLTP-combined rating.
Ulrich Mechau, VP of sales and services for Hyundai Motor Europe, was ecstatic about the Ioniq 6’s reception. He said:
“This extraordinarily high interest in and demand for IONIQ 6 First Edition underscores Hyundai’s leadership in zero-emission mobility. With its aerodynamically sculpted silhouette, long driving range, and interior that elevates the electric mobility experience for customers, IONIQ 6 redefines what a car should be. We are certain that European customers will be immediately drawn to our Electrified Streamliner.”
The Ioniq 5 also enjoyed worldwide acceptance. Austria’s Bludenz police department has added it to their petrol fleet.
