Hypercar maker Koenigsegg has teamed up with EV maker Polestar. But for what?

Koenigsegg is a Swedish hypercar maker. Polestar is a Swedish electric vehicle (EV) maker. That’s about where the similarities end for the two, but they appeared to be teaming up for an unlikely partnership earlier this week.

The Instagram account for Koenigsegg recently posted a photo of its brand new four-seat Gemera hypercar facing off against the Polestar Precept Concept.

The Koenigsegg Gemera is no slouch, even with four seats. It produces 1,727 horsepower and 2,581 pb-ft of torque from a combination of three electric motors and a 3-cylinder engine.

The Polestar Precept Concept is still just that, a concept vehicle, and has no timeline for entering production.

When the picture was first posted, the speculation was the two Swedish automakers had teamed up to create an all-electric Supercar to rival the Tesla Roadster.

But since posting the photo to social media, Koenigsegg has confirmed to CarBuzz that there is unfortunately no such deal, but rather just a promotional video featuring the two vehicles.

Hopefully the video, which is set to release on June 25, lives up to the hype.
