Hydro Ottawa announced a funding initiative for those looking to purchase and install EV charging stations within Ottawa.

The funding initiative will provide up to 50 per cent of the total project cost. Hydro Ottawa will partially cover the cost of EV charging station installations in:

  • Multi-unit residential buildings
  • Light-duty fleets
  • Workplaces
  • On-street parking
  • Public places such as retail, restaurants, service stations, medical offices and more

However, even if a business is registered at the location, private residences are not eligible for the funding.

In addition, there are various levels of funding for Level 2 and Level 3 chargers. More details on the exact funding levels is coming from Hydro Ottawa in the coming weeks.

To receive the funding:

  • Funding must be less than $100,000 per application
  • The EV Infrastructure project must be within the city of Ottawa boundaries until February 28, 2022. However, projects outside of the city of Ottawa boundaries may be eligible after February 28, 2022

Hydro Ottawa noted that more information is coming in the next few weeks, including the application process and deadlines.
