GMC releases another Hummer EV video that is almost entirely CGI

Even though General Motors does appear to have at least one working prototype of their upcoming Hummer EV, it looks as though it may not be able to do much yet based on a recent video from the automaker.

Originally posted to the General Motors Design Instagram account, the video is titled “GMC HUMMER EV. A Quiet Revolution.” The description gives a shoutout to what is referred to as the “GCV team”, thanking them for the “awesome animation.”

Clearly not trying to hide the fact the video is almost 100% CGI, they show the electric Hummer “driving” through a city, before heading to the mountains for some “off-road” driving. Based on what we could tell, we don’t get to see the real truck until about 50 seconds into the video when it is driving very slowly along a dirt road.

Another clear giveaway it is CGI is when they show it crossing a bridge without a driver behind the wheel.

GMC Hummer no driver

GMC received a lot of criticism when they unveiled the electric Hummer last year for not having a working prototype. With less than a year to go now until their planned first release of the Hummer EV Edition 1 later this fall, they better get to work quickly.
