Giga Berlin critics want to have another round of public talks to cover complaints around the plant. The critics released a joint statement on Tuesday about their displeasure.
According to the environmental groups Nabu, BUND, Green League and NaturFreunde, documents and additional requests were missing at the latest round of discussion.
“Among other things, they criticize the fact that some parts of the discussion were no longer blackened out, but that public participation for the application was already over. In addition, documents and additional requests were missing,” they said in a statement. (via welt.de)
The groups also note that the facility could negatively affect the area’s nature and drinking water.
However, it remains unclear if the group’s statement and objections will end up delaying Giga Berlin yet again. There is no timeline on the release of the final decision by the Ministry of the Environment on the factory.
At the same time, Elon Musk and the Brandenburg Economic Minister are optimistic that the approval will be granted by the end of the year.
Giga Berlin is a significant part of Tesla’s plans and will be producing the Model Y. The facility will also be home to several critical technologies for Tesla such as the 4680 cells and structural battery packs.
In addition, the factory will have a new paint shop which could produce some unique tones and colours for the company.
