The internal combustion engine (ICE) GMC Hummer was a massive vehicle in its own right, making other cars on the road look like Hot Wheels cars in comparison.
We learned earlier this year the electric version was going to follow in its footsteps and tip the scales at a whopping 9,046 lbs (4,103kgs), more than twice the weight of the Tesla Model Y.
As luck would have it, a Model Y owner happened to come upon one on the prototype test vehicles in a parking lot in Michigan.
Fortunately there was an empty spot next to the massive truck, and we now have our first side-by-side size comparison between the two EVs.
Joshua M. snapped the photos and shared them on Facebook, giving us a good visual of just how much taller and wider the Hummer EV is than the Model Y.
Perhaps the biggest visual difference is the width. According to the dimensions released by GMC, the Hummer EV will measure 93.7 inches wide, including the side mirrors. That difference is clear in the photos, with the Model Y nearly 10 inches narrower (83.8 inches including the mirrors).
The Hummer EV is also significantly longer than the Model Y, measuring in at 216.8 inches compared to the electric SUV at 187 inches.
As the company continues to test prototype Hummer EVs on roads across the U.S., we will certainly see more size comparisons in the months to come.
Hopefully it won’t be too long until we see a Cybertruck and Hummer EV size comparison in a parking lot like this.
