Earlier this morning we shared with you a walk around video of a Plaid Model S test vehicle that was spotted over the weekend in San Francisco.
Another Tesla fan came across that same car and took some up close photos, including one of the underside of the rear bumper. That photo reveals that like the Model Y, the world’s fastest production car also has what appears to be a removable tow hitch cover (h/t: Randy).
When Tesla announced the refresh Model S in January, a deeper look at the Design Studio source code revealed the possibility of an optional tow hitch.
The US version of the site didn’t reveal the towing capacity, but the Canadian version said it would be able to tow up to 3,500lbs with a Class II hitch.
This isn’t the only feature spotted in a refresh Model S that hasn’t made it on to the Design Studio. During a flyover of the Fremont factory a freshly built Model S was spotted with what appeared to be third row seating. Musk later confirmed the electric sedan would be able to seat up to 7 passengers, but buyers aren’t yet able to select that configuration when ordering.
