Tesla first announced the refresh Model S in January, renaming the Performance variant to Plaid and introducing an all-new Plaid+ to the lineup.
Since then we have seen a number of test vehicles spotted on roads across the US, but they have all been Long Range (LR) variants, missing the signature ‘PLAID’ badge on the trunk.
That’s no longer the case. During a road trip on Friday, Tesla owner and enthusiast Zack (@BLKMDL3) spotted the first known Plaid Model S on the streets near Fremont.
Finished in Midnight Silver, the Plaid Model S was outfitted with the 21″ Arachnid wheels and also featured the yoke steering wheel.

Tesla’s Design Studio is showing the first deliveries of the Plaid Model S will begin in 10-14 weeks. According to the stats it will be the fastest accelerating production car, reaching 100km/h in just 2.1 seconds.
The Plaid Model S wasn’t the only unreleased Tesla vehicle spotted by Zack. He also came across a LR Model S and refresh Model X with Cyberstream wheels.
