The European-based car hire firm Virtuo added dozens of Teslas to its fleet. These purchases are part of the company’s goal of having 50% of its fleet electric by 2025. Further to this, the company wants to have 100% of its fleet electric by 2030.
The latest order by Virtuo adds around 50 Tesla Model 3 Long Range vehicles to their fleet. These vehicles will be added to the London and Paris fleets for June 22.
The Tesla Model 3’s will be in the premium option of the app. Depending on the length of the hire, the cars start at $96 per day for users. As well, users can either pick up the vehicle or have it delivered for an extra fee.
The Tesla purchase comes after investors pumped $60 million into the company last month. The cash injection ensured the company could accelerate the electrification of the fleet to meet announced goals.
The Tesla’s are not the first EV’s in the Virtuo fleet. The company added several Hyundai Kona EV’s earlier in 2021.
Virtuo currently has 150,000 active customers and 4000 vehicles across the UK, France, Spain and Italy.
