Tesla, Brookfield and Dacra to build SunHouse sustainable development with Solar and Powerwalls in Austin, Texas

Elon Musk’s Tesla Energy is entering the red-hot Austin, Texas, real estate market, partnering with Brookfield Asset Management and Dacra to build the SunHouse development at Easton Park.

This marks the first Tesla Solar neighbourhood and will create the most sustainable residential community in the United States. The goal of the community is to develop an energy-neutral sustainable community in the state.

SunHouse could become the gold standard for sustainable large-scale housing projects in North America and potentially the world.

Tesla Energy‘s V3 solar roof tiles and Powerwall 2 battery storage units will be designed and marketed separately from the community. In addition, each home will include an EV charging station, and public EV charging will also be part of the master plan.

SunHouse hopes to produce enough energy to power the community and reduce the overall demand on Texas’s electric grid. In addition to solar panels, each home will also have backup storage in a power outage. Also, homeowners could receive compensation if power returns to the grid by the community.

There is no timeline for completion, but the project will begin in June 2022.
