Tesla Model Y refresh pictures leak

Tesla isn’t planning to release a refresh of the Model Y until some time in 2025, but the first pictures of the possible design have leaked.

We first learned about a refresh to the Model Y last year when a report emerged that Tesla was working on a “Project Juniper” to update the design of the Model Y.

Tesla has since come out to confirm that a refresh is on the way, but that it won’t be arriving until 2025.

During that time the company will be testing the new design, just like it did with the recent Model 3 refresh. The first sighting of one of the test vehicles happened last month in California, but the vehicle’s front and rear end was covered in camouflage.

Now we get to see what might have been under that camouflage, after a pair of pictures showing some of what may be the final design have leaked.

The photos, shared on Reddit, show the interior has a number of the same features as the new Model 3, like perforated/ventilated seats, ambient lighting, and the new dash.

The exterior photo reveals a more surprising design change to the trunk lid, which shows what appears to be a rear light bar stretching between the taillights.

Following the leak, a fan created a render of what the rear of the Model Y might look like fully exposed.
