Automotive behemoth Stellantis is going all in with electric vehicles. The company has announced a new business unit, the Stellantis Pro One, which will handle its light commercial vehicle (LCV) business. The automaker is also announcing three new electric pickup trucks.
Stellantis is holding a “Commercial Vehicles Ambition Day” on October 23rd, where it will present its strategy for vans and trucks. Ahead of the event, the conglomerate has revealed a new business unit named Stellantis Pro One. The new unit, which will oversee its LCV efforts, cuts across all its six brands, namely Citroen, Fiat, Opel, Peugeot, Ram, and Vauxhall, as Motor1 reports.
Stellantis Pro One will launch four electrified pickups before 2025, including the previously announced Ram 1500 REV, with one of them powered by hydrogen. They are all expected to launch in North America.
The new electric trucks will ride on Stellantis’ second-gen electric drivetrain, STLA Frame, promising longer driving ranges. It also accommodates hydrogen-fuel-cell propulsion.
LCV is important to Stellantis. It moved 1.6 million units in 2022.
Stellantis and Samsung SDI are building a second battery factory in Kokomo, Indiana. It is also collaborating with other automakers to launch a massive charging joint venture in the US.
