Tesla China has revealed some interesting statistics about its operation. The figures were released by Li Haolin, Tesla Beijing’s sales manager, who reeled them out in a video posted on Twitter by Sawyer Merritt, a Tesla investor and enthusiast, and several other Twitter users.

According to Haolin, Tesla cars in China have covered more than 1.7 billion miles in 2022 alone, based on charging as the company’s public charging network alone. That is equivalent to driving around the globe 70,000 times. Since Tesla EVs do not burn fossil fuel, they have helped China prevent adding 650,000 tons of CO2 into the environment. It is equivalent to planting 1.3 million hectares of forest to remove CO2 from the atmosphere.
In Beijing alone, Tesla now operates 100 Supercharger sites in Beijing, with 890 charging pillars. It built 48 Supercharging stations in July.
Haolin also revealed how environmentally responsible Tesla’s China manufacturing has been. The Asian subsidiary has recycled more than 94 percent of the waste it generates. The plant also reclaims more than 150,000 tons of wastewater.
Tesla China also sources 95 percent of its part locally.
Tesla China is expected to ship more than 100,000 cars in September 2022.
