SpaceX has updated the Starlink website to include an improved service availability map to better show when customers can expect to see the satellite internet service expand to their region.
The previous map would only show what regions the service was ‘Available Now,’ and other areas where you could sign up and join a waitlist.
The new version of the map now has three layers – ‘Available Now’, ‘Waitlist’, and ‘Coming Soon’, with the latter two providing dates when the service will expand to those areas.
Most Canadians in the southern parts of the country can sign up for Starlink now. For those in the waitlisted areas, like Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa, and other smaller pockets will see Starlink in 2023. Canadians in the northern part of the country will be able to sign up for Starlink starting in Q1 2023.
Along with the updated map, SpaceX also announced Starlink is now available in 32 different countries around the world. The latest to join was Hungary, with customers being allowed to sign up for the service earlier this week.
SpaceX also said customers that live in areas marked as ‘Available’ will see their Starlink kits shipped immediately. This hopefully means SpaceX has been able to overcome their silicon shortage which impacted production and their ability to fulfil orders.
