Tesla will debut the refresh Model S and Model X in Taiwan this week, marking the first time the vehicles have been shown outside of North America.
According to an invitation to a private viewing event at Tesla’s Taiwan headquarters in Taipei received by Tesla Owners Taiwan founder Michael Hsu (@hschumacher), Plaid variants of both vehicles be on display.
Most importantly for perspective S/X owners outside of North America, this will also be the first time both vehicles have a native CCS2 charging port.
Until now the Model S/X in Europe and other markets have a modified type 2 plug which supports both AC and DC charging.
The obvious downside is that to use Superchargers and third party DC fast chargers, a CCS adapter is required which limits charging speeds to 142kW.
With a native CCS2 charge port, owners will now be able to enjoy the full 250kW available at V3 Superchargers.
Stay tuned for more as there may be a few other surprises when the cars debut tomorrow.
One could be the new taillights which we recently saw being tested at Fremont, which also hinted at the new charge port design.
The other? We’ll have to wait and see.
