A pair of criminals picked the wrong car to follow for more than 40 miles from San Francisco to Fremont, to eventually rob at gunpoint.
The cameras on a Tesla Model Y, along with some of the victim’s home surveillance cameras, captured the shocking robbery that took place in late September.
According to the victim, Louis, he and a friend had been taking photographs of the famous Golden Gate Bridge enveloped in. While taking photographs they noticed a pair of men watching them closely, but didn’t think much of it.
Once they were done, Louis drove home to Fremont, dropping his friend off in Union City along the way.
What Louis didn’t realize is that the two men had followed him the entire way, more than 40 miles, to rob him of his camera gear.
As he backs into his driveway, his home surveillance cameras capture the two men approaching the car. One heads to the rear and attempts to open the trunk. Unsuccessful, he smashes the glass and grabs the camera bags.
As the pair run off with the expensive gear in hand, the Model Y side repeater camera captures the other suspect pulling out a gun.
In shock by what just happened, Louis floors it and follows the pair, crashing into their getaway car. That’s when the gun is pointed directly in Louis’ face.
The gun-wielding criminal attempts to get inside the Model Y, and in the ensuing tussle, the gun discharges, but miraculously no one is injured.
One of the suspects was arrested, while the other is still on the run.
Amazingly, this isn’t the first shocking footage involving a Tesla and expensive camera gear in San Francisco. Earlier this year a Tesla captured another brazen daytime robbery in rush hour traffic.
