All Tesla ridesharing service opening soon in BC

If you like travelling in style, ridesharing isn’t usually the first option that comes to mind for most people. But that may soon be changing, as the luxury ridesharing service InOrbis is set to open in BC later this month.

Originally launched in Alberta in 2015, InOrbis focuses on transporting passengers on long-haul routes, like the 3 hour and 300km drive between Calgary and Edmonton. When launched in BC, they will offer services for long-haul routes in the lower mainland, like between Whistler and Vancouver. But with EV charging infrastructure already in place in much of BC, they will soon expand to other areas like Vancouver Island and the Okanagan (Kamloops, Kelowna).

As for how InOrbis is different from the competition, InOrbis founder Rosario Fortugno explains to Tesla in Canada their focus is on productivity for their clients. “The area that we focus on is productivity for city-to-city travel. Our experience in Alberta shows us that quite simply, business travellers want to gain back those lost hours while commuting, and we let them do that.”

In addition to the long-haul service, Fortugno says they will also offer the traditional ridesharing service of travel between point A and point B within cities and between municipalities. Fortungo sees the lower mainland as the ideal location for this type of service, “where you have many different municipalities that people regularly travel between, where coach bus service has been cut substantially, and where cabs do not serve the intercity traveller well..”

Their fleet currently includes 15 EVs, including all three models of Tesla, the Model S, Model 3 and Model X. They also have orders for a Jaguar I-PACE, Porsche Taycan, and Audi e-tron, expected in early 2020. While traveling in one of their EVs, you can choose to relax or stay productive with the complimentary on-board WiFi. Users can use the InOrbis app, which delivers quick and easy cashless booking and payments.
