First Tesla Superchargers arrive at Giga Texas showing off the new modular design

Construction at Giga Texas continues at breakneck speed. The latest development showing work is getting closer to completion is the arrival of the first Supercharger units.

The new Superchargers were spotted in a drone flyover of the site by Jeff Roberts. Making the find even more exciting is the fact they are the new modular (prefabricated) design from Tesla. Not only does this new design decrease Tesla’s costs, it also speeds up the installation process considerably.

Based on the video captured by Roberts, the first installation will see a total of 9 Superchargers added at Giga Texas.

This new modular design was first seen in Beaver, Utah in April. As we learned from that site, the Superchargers will be placed in a prepared area and then hooked up to existing utilities. The installation in Utah took just a matter of days as compared to the typical process which can take several weeks.
