Tesla’s relationship with SpaceX extends far beyond electric vehicles (EVs), with the company’s recently disclosed IPO documents revealing hundreds of millions of dollars in purchases tied to energy storage, AI infrastructure, and advanced computing initiatives.
According to SpaceX’s filing ahead of its planned stock market debut, Tesla has sold approximately US$890 million worth of products and services to SpaceX and its subsidiaries since 2023. While the Cybertruck has drawn much of the recent attention, the bulk of the transactions were actually tied to Tesla’s Megapack battery systems.
The filing shows Tesla supplied US$191 million worth of Megapacks in 2024 and another US$506 million in 2025, primarily for xAI before the AI company was absorbed into SpaceX earlier this year.
Those Megapacks are now supporting what SpaceX describes as the world’s largest Megapack deployment at its Colossus II AI campuses in Memphis, Tennessee, and Southaven, Mississippi. Together, the facilities reportedly provide around 1 gigawatt (GW) of AI compute capacity.
Beyond batteries, the filing also revealed an expanding partnership between Tesla and SpaceX. Additional commercial agreements between Tesla and SpaceX generated another US$11 million in goods and services in 2023, US$4 million in 2024, and then surged to US$144 million in 2025, although the filing did not specify exactly what those transactions included.
The documents state all deals were conducted “on terms no less favorable to SpaceX than those generally available to unaffiliated third parties under similar circumstances,” a notable disclosure given that Elon Musk leads both companies.
Toward the end of the filing, SpaceX also confirmed it purchased US$131 million worth of Cybertrucks from Tesla in 2025. The figure aligns with recently released registration data showing SpaceX accounted for more than 18% of all Cybertruck registrations in the U.S. during Q4 2025.
