Rivian has officially opened its R2 online configurator to the public ahead of the vehicle’s first customer deliveries. The configurator launch gives reservation holders and curious buyers their first real look at pricing, options, colours, and more for the midsize electric SUV.
In a post on X, Rivian announced, “The R2 configurator is live. Explore paint colors, interiors, wheels and more. Head to our website and start building.”
At launch, only the top-tier R2 Performance trim will be available to order. Priced at US$57,990, the dual motor all-wheel drive SUV delivers 656 horsepower and 609 lb-ft of torque, while offering an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 330 miles (531 km).
Launch Edition Includes Thousands in Extras
Early buyers will receive Rivian’s Launch Package, which bundles several upgrades and features at no extra cost. According to the configurator, the package includes lifetime access to Rivian’s upcoming Autonomy+ hands-free driving system, a tow package rated for 4,400 pounds, a special Rivian Green anodized key fob, and exclusive access to the Launch Green paint colour.
Combined, those extras represent roughly US$3,700 in added value. After the launch period ends, Autonomy+ will cost either US$49.99 per month or US$2,500 as a one-time purchase.
New Colours, Wheels, and Accessories Revealed
The configurator also reveals Rivian’s pricing structure for optional upgrades for the first time.
Paint upgrades range from US$1,000 to US$2,000 depending on the colour, while wheel packages add between US$1,000 and US$2,000. The no-cost wheel option is the 21-inch Liquid Tungsten All-Season setup, while the more rugged 20-inch all-terrain package lowers estimated range to 307 miles (494 km).
Rivian is also introducing several new paint colours, including Catalina Cove, Esker Silver, and Half Moon Grey. However, some colours will arrive later than others. Forest Green is not expected until late 2026, while Borealis has been delayed until 2027.
For the interior, buyers can only select the standard Black Crater Signature interior. The upgraded Coastal Cloud Signature is coming later this year for an additional US$1,000.
The configurator even reveals smaller accessories, including a US$65 screen protector and a US$755 compact spare tire kit.
While U.S. deliveries for the R2 Performance are expected to begin in spring 2026, Canadian buyers will have to wait longer. Rivian has not yet opened Canadian orders, with deliveries north of the border currently expected sometime in 2027.
