Tesla begins Model Y Performance and RWD deliveries in British Columbia

The first deliveries of the updated Tesla Model Y lineup have officially begun in British Columbia. After weeks of uncertainty and shifting delivery timelines, vehicles have finally made their way across the country, with deliveries now underway at Tesla’s Vancouver Delivery Centre.

On Friday, lucky customers in Vancouver took delivery of the first Model Y Performance and Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) vehicles in the province.

According to information shared with Drive Tesla by one of our readers @xsaltwedgex on X, multiple units were prepped for deliveries, with more expected to follow in the coming days and weeks from Great Northern Way.

For many buyers in British Columbia, the start of deliveries comes as a relief. Earlier timelines suggested customers in the province could be waiting until May or even June for their vehicles, but with Friday’s deliveries Tesla has been able to accelerate at least some west coast orders.

However, not all vehicles include the latest interior updates seen in some eastern deliveries. The Model Y Performance vehicles in this early wave of deliveries came equipped with a grey headliner. This confirms our earlier reporting that western deliveries may lag behind in receiving the newest interior updates compared to some east coast deliveries.

Customers in Ontario and Quebec already started receiving their Model Y Performance and RWD vehicles earlier this month.

For Model Y RWD buyers, the timing is just right as this variant now qualifies for the federal government’s $5,000 Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) rebate. Tesla recently adjusted how it presents freight and delivery charges in Canada, allowing the vehicle’s base price to fall within the program’s $50,000 eligibility threshold. As a result, the Model Y RWD is now effectively priced at $44,990 for eligible buyers, with all paint options included at no additional cost. Buyers in Quebec can also stack their provincial rebate, lowering the price even further.
