Tesla Job Postings Hint at Major Robotaxi Rollout in 2025

Tesla appears ready to significantly expand its Robotaxi footprint across the United States, with recent job postings pointing to an ambitious nationwide expansion of its autonomous ride-hailing service.

Currently, Tesla’s Robotaxi platform is live in two locations — Austin, Texas, and the Bay Area in California. In Austin, vehicles operate without a driver in the front seat, but with a safety operator in the front passenger seat. Meanwhile in California, a safety driver remains behind the wheel due to a lack of the required permits to operate autonomously.

Despite this limitation, the Bay Area service spans a vast 80-mile geofenced zone from north of San Francisco to San Jose.

But Tesla’s isn’t stopping there. A recent update from CEO Elon Musk during the company’s Q2 2025 earnings call gave us some insight into Tesla’s aggressive timeline for expansion, with Musk stating the company hopes to have autonomous ride-hailing in “probably half the population of the U.S. by the end of the year… assuming we have regulatory approvals.”

Now we get a major clue to Tesla’s next moves thanks to a series of job listings spotted by @Teslayoda on X. The positions suggest the company is ramping up its presence in key urban markets known for their dense populations and high tourism traffic. These cities include:

Palo Alto, California Brooklyn, New York Houston and Farmers Branch (Dallas area), Texas Tempe, Arizona Henderson, Nevada (Las Vegas area) Tampa, Clermont, and Miami, Florida.

Although Tesla has not officially confirmed these cities as part of its next Robotaxi wave, the job postings are a strong indicator of its intent. Hiring locally is often one of the first steps before launching operations, particularly for roles involving vehicle support, data collection, and safety oversight.
