SpaceX Starlink users hit with overnight outage

SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service suffered an outage overnight, impacting users around the globe.

The first reports of the outage appeared at around 12:00am PDT, with users on Reddit saying they were without Starlink in areas across the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand and many other countries.

The outage appeared to be intermittent, with some Starlink subscribers reporting their connection was restored quickly, but with degraded service. Others however saw the outage last up to three hours.

“this actually started for me about an hour and a half ago, but I checked this sub and nobody was saying anything so I thought it was just me. It’s STILL down after almost 2 hours which is crazy. Granted it’s almost 5am where I am but still,” wrote one user in North America.

According to those who reached out to customer support, users were not given an explanation for the outage. They were instead told that SpaceX is aware of the issue and working to resolve it, and that if it is not back up and running within 12 hours to contact them again.

Based on data from Downdetector, the outage peaked at around 3:00am PDT. While the number of reported issues has dropped dramatically since then, it still appears to be affecting some users at this time.
