Tesla has just started releasing its latest 2020.40.7 software update, and it includes one new feature for the Model Y.
The automaker last night updated the range estimates for the Model Y, bumping up the Long Range version to 525km (326 miles) on a full charge. The Performance Model Y’s range increased 20km to 488km (303 miles).
Today’s software update appears to be bringing existing Model Y owners up to the new range, with the release notes showing an “Improved Efficiency” feature being deployed.

According to the release notes, the “car’s range has been increased with new software that improves the efficiency of the motors and climate control system,”, referring to the heat pump.
After plugging his Model Y in, Drive Tesla reader Kaushik Krishna says his car now shows a full range estimate of 512km, still a little short of the new 525km EPA estimate.
UPDATE: After warming up, the mobile app is now showing 515km at 100%.
In the US, our friends at The Kilowatts also received the update, and tell us their Long Range Model Y is showing an extra 10 miles in the mobile app.
