Sentry Mode Live Camera Access in action [Video]

Earlier today the first owner reported receiving the coveted Sentry Mode Live Camera Access to his vehicle through a free over-the-air (OTA) software update.

According to the release notes the feature is limited to iOS owners for now, and also only those with a Premium Connectivity subscription.

We now have our first look at the feature in action thanks to Jakoda Prime on YouTube (h/t: @julio_bree)

The interface is the same as the one we saw pieced together from the source code of the mobile app earlier this month. You can access the live camera feed through the Security menu and tapping on “Live Camera” under the Sentry Mode option.

Doing so opens up the forward facing camera on the top half of the screen. The lower half contains a top-down image of the car, giving users the ability to see different views from the side and rear cameras.

There are also buttons to flash the headlights and honk the horn, but no option to talk to people near your car through the external PWS.

UPDATE: Elon Musk has confirmed this feature is included. It could be missing from this video if the owner doesn’t have the external speaker.

Even though the video was taken while the owner was on an LTE connection, the video quality is fairly good. There is a slight delay between tapping on a camera and the video feed loading, but it is definitely manageable.

Hopefully we see this feature rolling out to more owners soon. Until then, you can check out the full video below.
