Tesla Semi Truck in limited production in 2020

When Tesla unveiled the Semi Truck in 2017, the initial production goal was set for 2019. However, earlier this year we learned that the
target date was pushed back to 2020, according to the head of the Tesla Semi Program, Jerome Guillen.

Now with the release of the Q3 2019 earnings report, Tesla has confirmed the Tesla Semi Truck will begin production in 2020, “in limited volumes.” From the Q3 earnings report:

“We are planning to produce limited volumes of Tesla Semi in 2020.”

It was additionally noted in the report that the Tesla Semi will be manufactured in the United States, but not specified exactly where. The leading contender for Semi production is Gigafactory 1 in Nevada.

The Tesla Semi Truck was initially announced to have a 482km (300 mi) range or 805 km (500 mi) range. But Tesla CEO Elon Musk earlier this year that testing was going better than expected, and range will likely be around 965km (600 mi).
