Tesla releases first official images from inside Gigfactory 3 in Shanghai

Earlier this year from a field of mud, Tesla CEO Elon Musk held a groundbreaking ceremony where he announced that by year end, which was just 9 months away, the field behind him would be a massive EV factory ready to produce vehicles.

Many laughed at this projection, as historically it taken upwards of 4 to 5 years for traditional automakers to go from ground breaking to operational car factory, especially of this size. But Tesla is not traditional, and construction occurred at a record breaking pace. Recent news suggested Gigafactory 3 was ready to start producing vehicles before the end of October, and during Tesla’s Q3 2019 earnings call confirmed that they have started trial production.

Now Tesla has released some official images from inside the factory, showcasing the stamping press, body shop, paint shop, and general assembly line. They also released a picture of the first made-in-China Model 3, surrounded by the factory workers that made it happen.
