A silver prototype Tesla Semi was once again spotted on the roads near the Fremont factory, and this time it was caught on camera showing off its eerily quiet and quick acceleration.
The video, captured by u/sk33ny and posted to Reddit, shows the silver semi making a left hand turn while pulling a trailer. As the prototype truck completes its turn, the driver puts the accelerator down, quickly pulling away with the signature ‘whine’ from the electric motors.
If you watch the video and think that the acceleration looks quite slow, you have to remember this a big, and heavy, class 8 truck. If you have ever driven next to a typical diesel semi as it pulls off from a stop light, you know how slowly they get away from the line as the driver has to quickly shift through the 10 or more gears.
This silver semi and trailer appears to be the same one spotted last month on the highway near San Jose. That sighting, also captured on video and sent to us by a Drive Tesla reader, shows the trailer with unique fins on the back, presumably to increase the aerodynamic efficiency of the truck.
