Zhejiang Geely Holding Group announced on Tuesday that the company plans to start selling EVs in Europe next year under the Zeekr brand.
Zeekr was introduced in China back in 2021 as a premium brand aimed at younger car buyers in the country.
At a roundtable earlier this week, Geely President and CEO of Zeekr An Conghui confirmed that the brand always had its eyes on Europe.
Conghui noted that the Zeekr brand was aimed at meeting the standards in Europe and the United States from the offset.
So, this could mean that beyond European expansion, the brand may be looking towards the United States and Canada in the future.
As per reporting via autoblog.com, Geely will market the Zeekr 001 electric crossover in Europe.
However, the company did not discuss sales targets, pricing or if the vehicle will be produced overseas.
The company also did not confirm if they will establish ZeekrPower charging stations or partner with an existing network in Europe.

Geely is well-versed in the automobile space as they own Volvo, Polestar, and Zeekr and are an investor in Mercedes-Benz.
The Zeekr 001 has already had moderate success in China, with just under 40,000 units sold in the first nine months it has been available.
However, in comparison, Tesla has sold just under 220,000 Model Y’s during the same time frame.
