Volvo and Polestar join Tesla Supercharger network, NACS adapters go on sale

Volvo and Polestar, two Swedish brands under the Geely Group, are the latest automakers to receive access to Tesla’s Supercharger network. With this announcement, Volvo and Polestar EV can now charge at over 17,800 Supercharger stations across Canada and the United States.

Starting today, Volvo and Polestar owners can order North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapters that allow their vehicles to connect to Tesla Superchargers. The adapters, priced at C$310 in Canada or US$230 in the US, are available for order through Volvo dealerships and Polestar Service Points. The first unites are expected to begin shipping in mid-November.

However, buyers of Volvo’s 2025 models, including the EX90, EX40 (formerly the C40 Recharge), and EC40 (formerly the XC40 Recharge), will receive the adapters free with purchase.

As for the EX30, which is currently available only in Canada, Volvo said information on adapter availability will be released at a later date.

Volvo and Polestar are also upgrading their infotainment systems to improve the charging experience. Both brands are rolling out software updates to enable real-time mapping of Supercharger availability via Google-powered in-car navigation. The Volvo Cars app and Polestar’s in-car Google Maps feature will also include this real-time information.

Both Volvo and Polestar plan to integrate NACS ports directly into their future electric vehicles (EVs) starting in 2025.
