Vancouver’s Damon Motors raises $30 million in quest for electric motorbike production

Vancouver-based electric motorbike maker Damon Motors Inc. is riding high this week after securing $30 million in funding.

Led by Benevolent Capital, SOL Global Investments, Zirmania, and others, the fresh infusion of capital will help Damon Motors launch its full-scale manufacturing of its high-performance electric motorbikes.

The new financing comes at the same time the company has secured more than $20 million in preorder sales for its Hypersport lineup of motorbikes.

“We have unveiled the future of two-wheel transportation and yielded high demand in North America and Europe, validating the market need for high-performance electric motorcycles,” said Jay Giraud, founder & CEO at Damon Motors. “On the back of this demand, Damon will produce an entire line of medium- and high-performance motorcycles over the next few years, with HyperDrive serving as the core of each model.”

According to Damon, the Hypersport has more than 200 horsepower and 200nm of torque delivered at 0rpm thanks to its electric motor. With a range of more than 200 miles (321km) on a single charge, it can reach a top speed of 200mph (321km/h).

The entire lineup of Hypersport electric bikes comes equipped with the company’s 360° advanced warning system, CoPilot.

Prices range from $16,995USD for the base Hypersport SE, up to $39,995USD for the Hypersport Premier.
